In Your Box This Week:
•1.    Tomatoes-Mostly heirlooms. Check your buckets the 1st day, & then like cheese, cut off any bad spots & use the rest.
•2.    Sweet Peppers-yellow, orange, green, and purple.
•3.    Zucchini-Eat them raw, sautéed, baked, fried, etc.
•4.    Cucumber-Take a test bite & peel off the skin if it is bitter.
•5.    Onions-a mix of our 4 varieties: “Red Delicious,” the flattened “Borettana,” the white “Super Star,” & the round gold “Frontier.” Best stored in fridge.
•6.
Carrots-This is almost the last of the “Sugarsnax” fresh eating variety. From now on you will receive more storage carrot varieties.
•7.    Cuke-nuts-they look like mini-watermelons & taste like a cucumber starburst. These are one of our specialties, rarely grown & almost extinct.
•8.    Eggplant-the gourmet & rarely bitter Rosa Bianca variety.
•9.    Lettuce Mix-as the weather cools back down the lettuce returns!
•10.        Arugula-this spicy green can be eaten raw or cooked. Try mixing w/lettuce mix.
•11.        Basil-we were shorthanded today, so you are going to have to pick through the basil yourself. You can eat the leaves, smallest stems, and the flower buds.
•12.        Rutabaga-The first of the year! Try these raw for snacking, or boiled, steamed, baked, mashed, and in stews. We think rutabaga is great & under appreciated!
